Project Update: Post-Campaign Timeline
5 days ago – Fri, Jun 26, 2026 at 11:35:35 AM

Hey gang! It's Jon, checking in today with an update on our post-campaign plans!

First: Thank you!

Bri and I are super grateful for y'alls support this month, and we're delighted we got to celebrate part of Pride month with you here on BackerKit. Whether you're a returning backer or a new face that found us through our socials this month, we appreciate your enthusiastic support. We couldn't have done this without you, and we're already working on getting your pledge rewards produced. Speaking of, let's talk about timelines!

Fulfillment Timeline

Bri and I are hoping we can manage a quick turnaround on this one, since the book is ready to send to print. I'll be doing one final proofreading pass this weekend to make sure I didn't miss anything, and then we'll be sending both the pins and the book to production on Monday.

Here's the important dates for the next month:
  • Tuesday, June 30th: Surveys go out, you can add any additional add-ons and input shipping information.
  • Monday, July 20th: We lock the initial wave of orders.
  • Wednesday, July 22nd: We charge shipping and lock your address in.
  • Friday, July 24th: We pack your pledges and ship your books!

If you don't fill out your survey right away, not to worry— We'll still make sure you get your pledge. It'll just have to wait until after we return from Gen Con the first weekend in August. We'll also check BackerKit periodically to ship books out to stragglers. If you fill out your survey after we ship out the first round and you don't receive your pledge within a couple weeks (you should receive a shipping notice from PirateShip, our shipping partner), just shoot us an email at [email protected] to let us know and we'll get your order sorted out.

If you're planning to move during fulfillment and you're worried your book might not make it in time, you can email us at the address above and we'll hold your order until you're situated in your new place and then ship it out to you.

That's All, Folks!

Thanks again for your support this month, and we'll keep in touch over the next few weeks as we move through the process of shipping books to you.

Cheers,

- Jon

Project Update: Stretch Goal Achieved, Campaign Ending Soon!
7 days ago – Wed, Jun 24, 2026 at 12:21:55 PM

Hey gang, Jon here with some exciting news as we head into our final 24 hours on BackerKit!

We Hit our First Stretch Goal!

Thanks to y'alls generous support, we just cruised right past our first stretch goal! You can now add printed enamel pins to your pledge if you'd like to rep one of our titular four weapons on your bags, jean jackets, or pin boards. We're really excited to add these to our roster of enamel pins, especially since they're in a new style for us!

You can add any number of pins to your pledge by clicking or tapping the image below, or by updating your pledge. You'll be able to choose the designs you want right after the campaign when we send out surveys.

Dawn of the Final Day

The campaign wraps up tomorrow at midnight! I'll check in Friday morning after the campaign finishes funding to chat with y'all a little more about our fulfillment timeline. The short version is: We hope for it to be pretty speedy. We'll be placing pin and book orders this week so we're ready (barring any production delays) to ship books to you before Bri and I head off to Indianapolis for Gen Con! More on that later, though.

Thanks again for your support, and we'll see y'all after the campaign!

Project Update: One Week Down + Campaigns We Love
22 days ago – Tue, Jun 09, 2026 at 10:37:03 AM

Hey gang! Jon here, with a quick update.

Week One Recap

It's been a whirlwind first week here on BackerKit! From y'all enthusiastically racing over our funding goal in just 48 hours to dozens of comments across our socials, it's been really heartwarming to see the response to Longsword, Glock, Bat, Taser 2nd Edition. With our print run funded, the next stop on the ride is a set of enamel pins of our titular four weapons! I'm pretty confident we'll cruise past that goalpost by the end of the campaign.

Other Campaigns we Love

In addition to LGBT, there's some other campaigns Bri and I have been keeping an eye on! These are projects by folks we know or just stuff we think you'll like. :] You can click or tap any of the banners to check out their projects on Kickstarter or here on BackerKit.

Soot and Charms

Soot and Charms is a roleplaying game set in a modern-fantasy Boston where the fae bargained with Edison to harvest energy from mortal storms. It's a really slick steampunk setting that I'm super excited to play around in. Also, Emily Entner, our usual graphic designer and one half of Graftbound Press is behind the visual design, in collaboration with some pretty cool comic artists!

Gallerie

We're far from the only folks running a queer TTRPG campaign during Pride! Gallerie, by Weapons Grade Funk, features art by a friend of ours (Gawki) and, like LGBT, is all about telling queer stories. Go check them out!

Goblin Pride

Listen, Bri and I love goblins, and Publishing Goblin is no exception to this rule. They've got some extremely punk Pride pins funding for a couple more weeks y'all might like!

A Road that Knows your Name

This game has such a tight pitch that I'll keep mine equally brief: A Road that Knows your Name is a one-shot storytelling game that uses a deck of cards and legos (or something else to build with) about a group of people travelling aboard a vessel you construct. They had me at lego-powered TTRPG, to be perfectly honest.

That's All, Folks!

That's it for today! Thanks again to everyone who's been excited by our project and telling queer stories! Bri and I are psyched to be celebrating Pride with y'all, and we're excited to see where the rest of the campaign takes us this month. I'll check in again here when we tip over our first stretch goal (4.5k for 4 Weapon Enamel Pins!). Until then:

Cheers, and Happy Pride to y'all!

Project Update: Fully Funded + Adventure Reveal
25 days ago – Sat, Jun 06, 2026 at 11:12:03 AM

Happy Saturday y'all! Jon here with a quick weekend update.

Fully Funded

As of Thursday afternoon, we are fully funded! Bri and I are deeply grateful for y'alls enthusiastic support at the top of the campaign. We're really excited to send Longsword, Glock, Bat, Taser to print soon, and we're already climbing steadily towards our first stretch goal!

If we cruise over the 4.5k mark before the end of the campaign, we'll be able to create enamel pin designs of the titular four weapons for y'all to order!

Adventure Prompt - The League of Evil Exes

Alright, with our housekeeping out of the way, let's dive into the other adventure prompt sneak peak y'all voted on this week! This time around we're looking at the "Evil Exes Abound" prompt, which is an homage to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, one of the pieces of media this game is inspired by.

As a reminder, each adventure prompt includes:
  • A high-level theme, like "One of your friends started dating someone with a league of evil exes"
  • A short description of that prompts expected contents
  • The genre or mashup for that adventure prompt
  • A short list of hazards that might fit well with that prompt
  • 6 Scene objective recommendations like "Best the Skate Wizard"
  • A short description of each scene's expected contents

The League of Evil Exes

This adventure prompt was a lot of fun for me to write, as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is an old favorite film/comic of mine. Funnily enough, we hadn't actually included it in the base game! It was our editor, Will, who suggested we include this homage since the game takes some inspiration from the punk rock, video-game style universe that series is set in. This adventure features a lot more explicit fighting than some of our other ones do, but given there's a league of evil ex-partners involved, it felt appropriate.

I selected encounters with evil exes from the film based on personal favorite scenes, but as I mentioned in our previous update, these adventure prompts are easily modified to suit your taste and your table—they're a jumping off point.

That's all, Folks!

That's it for today! Thanks again to everyone who's helped catapult us over the finish line this week! Bri and I are psyched to be celebrating Pride with y'all, and we're excited to see where the rest of the campaign takes us this month. I'll check in again here when we tip over a stretch goal or I've got some news to share! Until then:

Cheers, and the happiest possible Pride to y'all!

Project Update: Adventure Reveal + New Poll
28 days ago – Wed, Jun 03, 2026 at 10:37:33 AM

Happy Wednesday y'all! Jon here again with a few updates!

Poll Results

In classic Bat fashion, we had a 2-way tie between the League of Evil Exes and the Haunted Airbnb adventures! As such, I'll be sharing one adventure today, and the other tomorrow! I've also started a new poll where you can share what you think your highest stat is!

Alright, let's get into the adventure prompts. I'll start by talking about the Haunted Party Venue adventure prompt today, and chat a little about how we designed our adventure prompts!

Each adventure prompt includes:
  • A high-level theme, like "Exorcise your Haunted Party Venue"
  • A short description of that prompts expected contents
  • The genre or mashup for that adventure prompt
  • A short list of hazards that might fit well with that prompt
  • 6 Scene objective recommendations like "Commune with the Spirits"
  • A short description of each scene's expected contents

Here's what the Haunted Party Venue adventure looks like:

Easy to Run, Easy to Mod

Since LGBT is a lightweight, narrative-focused system, our goal for adventure prompts was to provide a strong hook or theme and support it with a collection of scenes that could theoretically be run straight out of the book with little or no advance preparation. We also wanted to leave room for interpretation or modification on the gamemaster's part, since it's possible for characters' personal Pride goals (chosen at character creation) or the gamemaster's vision for the adventure to be a little different than what we thought might play out.

At its heart, the Haunted House adventure is all about a paranormal surprise waiting for you at the venue you rented to hang out with friends. What kind of ghosts are haunting it in your game? What do they want? Will you have to fight them to make room for your friends' antics, or do they need help from you and your friends to find peace?

It's ultimately up to you and the folks at your table to decide, and scene Objectives (the measure of your progress towards short-term goals in each chapter of the story) can be easily modified to better represent the story unfolding at your table.

That's all, Folks!

That's it for today! Thanks to everyone who showed up last night and this morning, and we're looking forward to an exciting couple of days as we close in on our funding goal. I'll be back tomorrow with a short write-up on the League of Evil Exes adventure prompt. Don't forget to vote in the poll!

Cheers, and the happiest possible Pride to y'all!
